One of a few ideas that I have is taking a group of children on a tour of North America for a summer. This country is big and beautiful and really takes a while to experience and appreciate. I have been fortunate enough to see much of it (read about my adventures) over the years and think that it make a person better just to move about and see things. I would like to take about 20 teenagers (half boys, half girls - all too young to drive) for ten weeks on a guided camping tour of the country. Starting in Maine, I would head down the East coast and plan on going no more than 200 miles per day. We would then meander throughout the rest of the country all summer long. Of course I would provide a detailed itinerary and likely e-mail service and a web site to document our travels for concerned parents.

My clients would have to be fairly wealthy in order to make it worth my while or I would need a rich sponsor to take children of modest means. Karl Malone, Bill Gates… folks like that come to mind. They could be the sponsor for an entire group. Of course I would expect a sponsor to actually spend a private evening around a campfire with the group, perhaps as a surprise visit with them. If it is not a sponsored tour then it would just be a group of twenty wealthy families that are wanting their children to have the experience. I know that teenagers can be a challenge and that ten weeks off could be a good thing for both parents and the children. Certainly the children would benefit from such an adventure. I would even entertain the notion of taking children of wealthy folks that are having difficulties growing up for one reason or other. A month or two on the road in this country has the magical quality to cure even the most troubled of souls. I know.
